THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Balcony of Ridglea Restaurant Review:

This upstairs eatery has been a mainstay of the Ridglea area through management changes and shopping center renewals but, like a movie star trying to make a comeback, it could use a good script and director. The current ownership seems promising, but this place still has a way to go if it wants to appeal to the younger set. For one thing, the main dining room, with its painted beams, French chairs and widely spaced canvases, feels rather formal. The side porch, a narrow strip of tables facing busy Camp Bowie Boulevard, and the outdoor balcony are more casual. Morever, the menu is rather old-fashioned. A teacup of consommé is offered to start; however, on a recent visit the out-of-synch service left the cup unfilled and bread plate empty until midway through the meal. If you don’t mind retro, the tender seafood crêpes, filled with shrimp and fish and topped with white wine cream sauce, make a delightful lunch. For dinner, try the smoked bacon and wild mushroom strudel, followed by a hearty pepper-crusted pork tenderloin in a port wine sauce with Bavarian cabbage. On the weekends, piano music and a singer add a supper club flair.
