The Belvedere Restaurant Review: The Belvedere’s location is ideal --- tucked peacefully away from the roar of London traffic and in summer within earshot of the nearby open-air opera festival. The overall impression, the mirrors, floral wallpaper and greenery, is one of sophisticated intimacy. The cooking is classical with a modern take, offering the likes of pea soup with fresh truffle or crispy duck salad with tomato and sesame dressing, then a range of soup and salads before venturing into pastas. Main courses might include roast sea bass with spiced peppers, chorizo, aubergine caviar and basil pesto, or veal chop with sweet potato mash. Finish with a panna cotta with lavender and rhubarb compote. For a real summer treat, book at the annual Holland Park Opera (June to August) and take a pre- or post-theater menu. The wine list is even-handed in its offerings and fair in its pricing, and the service is charming. Set 2-course menu £15.95, 3 courses £19.95. Set 3-course Sun. lunch £27.50. During the Holland Park Opera: pre- and post-opera menu 2 courses £25, 3 courses £29.
