Where else could you find such a hodgepodge of American comfort foods and such international specialties as seafood paella under one roof? Coral Gables, with its cross-cultural diversity and fair share of resident old-timers, has kept this cafeteria going strong for three decades. The daily specials are posted at the entrance, and the staples include hot beef and potatoes, steaming casseroles and overcooked vegetables. Sample some of the incredibly campy pastries displayed at the entrance. We recommend the pure white coconut cake, the sweet custard and the deep-dish Key lime pie.
