| This festive bistro where southern Napa Valley’s vineyards begin satisfies with uncomplicated but accomplished California-Italian. Consistency defines the cooking. Count on al dente, from-scratch pastas, perhaps tossed humbly with cauliflower, cheese and olive oil, or ravioli with tangy pesto lemon cream. A wood oven incubates a handful of tasty pizzas like the fig, caramelized onion, and Gorgonzola. Grilled specialties like calamari puttanesca or rib-eye also hit the mark. Unwind on a lovely heated terrace where fountain and mountain coincide, and note the olive trees and gardens that produce for the restaurant. Perch at the buzzing bar to peruse the fairly extensive wine list, not surprisingly Napa- and Italy-oriented. The dedicated owners tend to be on hand. Watch out for weekend overcrowding and delays. |
