Bistro Lancaster Restaurant Review: A cozy dining room inside The Lancaster hotel, a landmark in the downtown Theater District, Bistro Lancaster is a popular spot for pre-theater dinners and post-theater desserts. Current executive chef Chris Andrus is in the process of updating the menu. Start with the savory goat cheese cake topped with dried fruits and nuts, complemented by a wine selection. Then think kale and Caesar salads, grilled lamb meatballs, and pan-seared organic Texas chicken plated with roasted vegetables and fingerling potatoes. The kitchen also prepares a fine Angus beef burger and a grilled filet mignon with asparagus. The dessert menu varies but almost always includes the signature warm croissant bread pudding. The atmosphere is elegant and intimate, making it perfect for a date night, but by morning you’ll find hotel guests and downtown executives huddled over plates of eggs and breakfast potatoes, omelets and smoked meats, and that Southern classic of johnnycakes, cornmeal pancakes drizzled with warm honey.
