The Blue Bottle Cafe Restaurant Review: Viewed roadside, The Blue Bottle Café is a tiny, unprepossessing BYO. But inside, one will find an attractive and comfortable dining space. A staff of earnest young servers takes good care of the wine that diners bring. The menu offers diverse dishes with a seasonal and international bent, such as PEI mussels with fragrant apple wood-smoked bacon; pan-seared day boat sea scallops with forbidden black rice, glazed bok choy, shiso pesto and dashi broth; and an eggplant, portobello and tofu roulade with tomato purée, basil coulis, and a colorful medley of julienned zucchini, yellow squash and carrots. Salads are elaborate compositions with varied but harmonious elements, exemplified in a version named for the restaurant: a bright mix of baby greens with sliced red grapes and toasted hazelnuts, dressed with red wine-and-honey vinaigrette and topped with shaved manchego cheese.
