Blue Ribbon Bar-B-Q Restaurant Review:
While the suburbs of Arlington may seem an unlikely location for such sticky-fingers Carolina-style barbecue, Blue Ribbon Bar-B-Q --- an offshoot of the West Newton original --- makes it work. Inside the shiny diner-reminiscent storefront, chalkboard menus list the down-and-dirty faves like brisket, pulled pork and burnt ends. What distinguishes this casual joint is not only the reasonable prices but the barbecue’s authentic taste resulting from slow smoking. From Memphis dry-rubbed ribs to Jamaican jerked chicken, there is something for everyone. Ribs are fall-off-the-bone good and loaded sandwiches arrive on soft rolls, perfect for soaking up the spicy homemade sauces. Don’t miss the Southern sides of sweet cornbread, collard greens and black-eyed corn. For dessert, how can you resist a slice of pecan pie topped with whipped cream?
