Bobby Valentine's Sports Gallery Cafe Restaurant Review: Make no mistake: this is no ordinary sports bar. It's a shrine to one of Stamford's favorite sons, owner Bobby Valentine. Born in the city, he was a star ball player in high school who went on to the big leagues. He later managed the Boston Red Sox. Think of this as Bobby's annuity, frequented by his local friends and fans. The place is filled with memorabilia and, of course, when a good game is on, with sports fans. With appetizers like the enormous "World Series Tower" of assorted sliders, buffalo wings, fried mozzarella and onion rings (sharing is absolutely necessary); satisfying home-style sandwiches such as the marinated steak with tender strips of sirloin steak topped with onions and zesty blue cheese sauce on a ciabatta roll; not to mention everything from salads to pizzas, patrons will be well fed even if the game goes into overtime.
