THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Branch at Redwoods Restaurant Review: This is a clever idea for busy downtown customers looking for a quick post-work snack or an intimate meal for two without a wallet-busting tab at the end. The Branch, just as it sounds, sits next door to the bigger, more creative and richly appreciated Redwoods, and patrons here can order from the Big menu. (But as a bit of revenge, or perhaps pride, patrons of Redwoods can't order from The Branch's small plates menu). Anyhow, the choices at The Branch are enough: small plates of creative appetizers like smoked duck; celeriac, lemon confit and watercress bisque; or blue corn lobster nachos with black beans, ancho crema and avocado relish. Or perhaps you'd prefer grilled Navajo flatbread pizza with prosciutto, arugula, Fontina and truffle oil. There's a salad or two and a variety of cheese plates including fairly local goat cheese from a Citrus County dairy, served with lavosh, grapes and rustic pear jam. The desserts are few but rich---including espresso crème brûlée or Belgian chocolate cake.
