| You can't fake atmosphere like this. In a building that dates to the 1820s, there's a fireplace, a drafty door and vigorously uneven floors. The side patio is in the oeuvre of the House of Blues. The kitchen puts out food that will satiate that itch to head for New Orleans. It nails buckets of crawfish, oyster po’ boys, red beans and rice, jambalaya and special-recipe andouille sausage. The shuckers claim they go through 500 oysters a night, and we believe them after seeing countless customers chow down on oysters Rockefeller. The bread pudding hits the sweet spot. Expect to hear lots of blues, as this is one of three neighboring clubs that together anchor the city’s blues scene. |
