Brockett Pub House & Grill Restaurant Review: Owners Christina and John Gagne foster the reputation they acquired at their now-closed Spiced Dog --- John does the cooking at Brockett, even making the bratwurst and andouille. Frankly, the food quality puts many spiffier establishments to shame. Sourced from a good purveyor, the hot dogs are the familiar jumbo franks; get one topped with chili and everything one’s taste buds could desire. There’s even a veggie dog. A raft of quesadillas, wraps, burgers and sandwiches, soups and salads are also available. The burger is a substantial two-hander with all the trimmings, and made from meat that's good enough to allow you to order it rare. Desserts change daily. The wine list is perfunctory, but Brockett deals in beers by the bucketful, so they’re the quaff to target. |
