Broder Restaurant Review

: Broder’s authentic Scandinavian food includes a “Breakfast Bord” featuring rye crisp, lingonberries, gravlax, salami, yogurt, hard cheese, grapefruit and a sweet. Other breakfast options include egg scrambles and Swedish hash --- the smoked trout hash with cubed potatoes, bell peppers, onion and trout, topped with two baked eggs and pickled beets, is particularly enticing. Breakfast is served all day, but lunch extends the possibilities with a changing trio of Danish open-face sandwiches, Swedish meatballs, and the Broder club featuring house-cured gravlax. The small wine and beer list is largely European; the most interesting offering is the Scandinavian aquavit, straight or incorporated into imaginative cocktails. The limited size of the restaurant and the popularity of the breakfast meal often results in a long wait, but you can linger in the Savoy Tavern next door or sip complimentary coffee.
