 Buona Tavola Restaurant Review: This inconspicuous little spot isn’t on the main square in Paso Robles, but it’s worth seeking out for its authentic Italian fare. At lunchtime, we like the simplicity of the organic greens salad with tomatoes and shaved fennel, as well as the heartiness of the insalata de Parma with arugula, apple, Parmesan, prosciutto and balsamic dressing. From there, it’s tough to stray from house-made pasta, such as the gnocchi with brown butter sage sauce, but sometimes it’s fun to take it over the top with veal scallopine served with Marsala sauce. If you still have room for dessert, go for one of the gelatos, perhaps chocolate or something seasonal. The wine list is fairly extensive for a restaurant of this size, with many local labels plus select Italian wines. |
