| Take it from us: don’t try to eat C & K’s barbecue on the go. It’s a sauce-drippin’, finger-lickin’ mess of an experience from start to finish (and usually that finish involves gnawing on a bone or two). Tucked into an old gas station, C & K dishes up authentic urban 'cue from a take-out window with absolutely no pretension. For anyone interested in snoots---the crispy-chewy, deep-fried, cartilage-laden proboscis of our friend the hog---this is the place. Naturally, you'll find ribs and rib tips (a local fave) as well as chicken and, usually, cake or sweet potato pie. The tomato-based sauce is sweet-hot and a tad spicier than the usual St. Louis-style, setting C & K apart from its ilk for four decades. |
