Cheerful, cozy Café Josie offers a wide array of Latin-tropical seafood and inspired American recipes. The atmosphere is equally appropriate for a business lunch or a romantic dinner, and the brightly colored walls set the tone for the adventurous meal to come. Dubbed “cuisine of the American Tropics,” it features the island-style grilling of meats and seafood marinated and basted with fiery chilies, tropical fruits and homemade dressings. Chef-owner Charles Mayes knows how to use spices and seasonings to full effect. Case in point: the pepita-spiced redfish with mango-habanero butter served on poblano rice, or the mesquite-grilled jerk pork basted with spiced rum glaze and served with pineapple pico de gallo. We also recommend the honey chipotle shrimp. Finish with the blackberry ginger crisp topped with Amy’s vanilla ice cream.
