THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Mosaic at The National Hotel Restaurant Review:
Beautifully restored to its original 20s splendor, the restaurant has had a tough time of putting together a food concept that shines with equal brilliance. Its gone through a handful of high profile chefs since the renovation three years ago, and the restaurants newest incarnation with chef Greg McDaniel at the helm might make it. A new menu has been installed, with a touch of Cuba, to complement the live entertainment in the adjoining Cuban-themed piano bar, the Deco Lounge. New signature items include Tostones con Camarones, savory portions of fried green plantains stuffed with pan-seared shrimp and tomato sauce, and Camarones al Ajillo, shrimp sautéed with fresh garlic, lemon juice and parsley served with Cuban bread. Entrées include the Chuleta, or 12-ounce pork chop, and the Palomilla steak, a ten-ounce prime New York strip. Both dishes are finished with chopped onion, parsley and lime juice and served with black beans and rice.
