THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Caffe Da Vinci Restaurant Review: Da Vinci sets a romantic mood with genteel European décor defined by white linen tablecloths, fresh flowers and an oversize faux Mona Lisa on the wall. Outdoor tables are tempting, too, providing as they do a cozy vantage point for watching posh Bal Harbour shoppers flit from Prada to Ferragamo; a sleek lounge encourages a trendy bar scene. Then again, most diners are paying attention to the satisfying Italian food on their plates. Homemade pastas (from the Caffè's own pasta factory), like veal-and-ricotta-stuffed tortelloni or ravioli filled with crab meat, are simple and succinct. So are scaloppines, grilled seafood and rich, meaty entrées such as veal chop with Gorgonzola. For lighter eaters, there are imaginative meal-size salads. Mango cheesecake is the signature dessert. |
