THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Cakes & Ale Restaurant Review:

Decaturites Billy and Kristin Allin took the name of the restaurant from a line in Shakespeare’s "Twelfth Night." They share a passion for food prepared with locally sourced products, and while the menu changes daily, the arancini (rice fritters) with fennel pollen seem to have splendid staying power, as well they should. We also like Billy’s way with potato gnocchi, with its adornments such as spicy Italian sausage, tomato and black olives. The restaurant offers so many vegetable dishes that no vegetarian will feel limited. Desserts get equal attention, and each day a chalkboard is inscribed with the names of available cheeses. First-rate beers are available on tap and by the bottle. From the well-chosen wine list, many selections are available by the glass and by the carafe, as well as the bottle, and the bottle prices include many fine wines in the $20s and $30s. We appreciate a wine list that offers rosés in the dead of winter because they go with the food. The first Sunday of each month, the restaurant opens for Sunday Supper, with a themed menu that changes from month to month.
