This brewery makes some mighty fine ales and serves up decent meals to boot. With its shaded outdoor patio and casual, no pretense attitude, the Calistoga Inn is a welcome respite from the highfalutin' restaurants found all over Napa Valley. The bar draws ’em in for Buffalo wings and other share-starters that pair well with the house-crafted draught beers under brewmaster Brad Smisloff. Mains include familiar crowd pleasers from salads to steaks, but with California twists and a few gutsy surprises to up their caliber: fettuccine with avocado, jack and Serrano chilies, field greens with grapes and Point Reyes blue cheese, or pork porterhouse with a tamarind-chili baste. The Calistoga Inn's dark bar and old-fashioned touches such as lace curtains give the space an Old West feel. |
