| The post-bubble years have been good to neighborhood restaurants, and Canestaro's is just that to the Fenway. It's a family-run place with the kind of menu that mixes Italian, American and Italian-American staples in a low-key but confident way. They're all ably prepared from the burgers, fried calamari and pesto-cured salmon to the pasta primavera and the pizzas tailor-made with a roster of toppings that is laundry-list long. Typical as Canestaro's sounds, there are few places like it left that can function just as well as an eat-in or take-out standby. And it's even got a modicum of old-fashioned atmosphere, complete with a patio. |
