Casa de Soria Restaurant Review:
Casa de Soria has been a Ventura mainstay Mexican restaurant for more than a half century. Local patrons and those from surrounding communities come for the warm familiarity, hot homemade chips and icy margaritas. Hearty standards like chile rellenos and carne asada plates are popular, but you’ll also find seafood such as grilled shrimp. Rice and beans are a given. And though beans typically don’t rate a mention, the refried pintos here have a cult following. Deceptively dry, even crispy, on the outside, they give way to a moist and flavorful center. Cool down with fried ice cream or house-made flan. A decent selection of local and imported beers rounds out the offerings. Rapid-fire team service keeps things moving at a nice clip. Also located at 21911 Roscoe Blvd., Canoga Park, 818-963-8961.
