The first Cheesecake Factory opened in Beverly Hills many years ago when the founder tired of selling his mother's cheesecakes to restaurants and wanted to feature them in his own. The eatery's ornate décor features pastel murals on its 40-foot-high ceilings, colorful columns, dark-wood booths and light-wood tables, and lots of plants. The Cheesecake Factory serves much more than cheesecake. Pan-fried chicken pot stickers are served with soy dipping sauce, fried calamari with garlic dip and cocktail sauce. Try the sweet corn tamale cakes topped with sour cream, salsa and avocado. Specialties include chicken and biscuits covered with country gravy and imaginative preparations of pizzas and burgers. We like the Louisiana Parmesan-crusted chicken cutlets over pasta tossed with mushrooms, peppers and onions in a spicy New Orleans-style sauce. The most popular seafood dish is Cajun jambalaya---shrimp sautéed with chicken, onions, tomatoes and peppers in a very spicy Cajun sauce served over linguine or rice. A fusion of Asian and Latin flavors, the charbroiled ChinoLatina skirt steak is enhanced by a spicy Thai tamarind sauce. Refresh your palate with the sublime tiramisu laced with Marsala and coffee liqueur, or one of the decadent chocolate desserts. Or choose one of the three dozen cheesecake varieties.
