Who would've thought an Irish pub could complement South Beach so well? We'll give it up for Laura Cullen, former wine distributor and daughter of a publican, who believed attitudinous Sobe was starving for an honest eating-drinking place with craic (a Gaelic term meaning, roughly, festive friendliness) rather than velvet ropes. Shepherd's pie, fish 'n' chips and burgers are big enough draws for the truly hungry, but sophistication rears its head throughout the menu as well with dishes that range from sea scallops wrapped in bacon and napped with a whiskey barbecue sauce to grilled double-cut pork chops to roasted duck. Don't neglect to order a house favorite, the side of simply roasted Brussels sprouts. A finely chosen wine list offers interesting pairing options as well as decent pricing, and, of course, there's also a terrific array of beers. A Sunday brunch offers a range of fare from a belly-busting traditional full Irish breakfast to innovative Irish oatmeal crème brûlée.
