| If you are into college bars and fraternity-sorority crowds, this is the place to go. If you've been to Malibu, Santa Monica or Balboa Island, you'll recognize the scene: a fun and festive, kick-back-and-unwind kind of place, with an energetic, attractive waitstaff, great water views and an extensive menu consisting of casual, satisfying seafood and other fare. What distinguishes Crab Shell from other crab shacks is the diverse menu of seafood dishes aside from the raw bar. The sautéed crab cakes with pesto and red pepper sauce (available in appetizer and entrée portions) are a welcome and inventive alternative to the fried-with-mayonnaise standard, or opt for the eponymous "crab shells," shrimp, scallops, crab meat and lobster tossed with lobster cream sauce and pasta shells. |
