Crab Shell Restaurant Review: If you've been to Malibu, Santa Monica or Balboa Island, you'll recognize the scene here: a fun and festive, kick-back kind of place with an energetic waitstaff, great water views and an extensive menu consisting of casual, satisfying seafood and other fare. The sautéed crab cakes with pesto and red pepper sauce (available in appetizer and entrée portions) are a welcome and inventive alternative to the fried-and-served-with-mayonnaise standard. Try the crab chowder, a riff on Manhattan clam chowder. In terms of main dishes, opt for the eponymous "crab shells," shrimp, scallops, crab meat and lobster tossed with lobster cream sauce and pasta shells. |
