The Cracked Conch Cafe Restaurant Review:

This roadside diner is an attraction in the Keys for fans of conch --- the sea mollusk that is pounded, breaded and deep-fried to make “cracked conch.” The bare bones café with no AC (if there’s a breeze sit on the patio) is so committed to feeding its regulars, it has never been closed an entire day since opening. Conch is protected locally and is currently imported from the Turks and Caicos or the Bahamas but can still be considered a “native” Keys delicacy. Besides the usual conch fritters, ceviche and chowder, The Cracked Conch dishes out a conch omelet for breakfast, conch piccata with lemon and capers, conch Marsala, conch Capri with basil and cheese, and a ground conch burger plus a cracked conch platter. There’s also shrimp steamed in beer, chicken, ribs, pizza, sandwiches and Key lime pie.
