| If the name rolls off your tongue with a bit of a giggle, you are not alone. When brought to Jay Leno's attention, he couldn't seem to get enough mileage out of repeating the name. All laughs aside, Crapitto's is a lovely old house with a main dining room lined with windows looking out onto a pleasant patio filled with umbrellas and shaded by live oaks. Owner John Crapitto cordially presides over the establishment, serving Italian food and some fine cuts of meat. A standout among these is the hefty signature 16-ounce veal chop, grilled and served with a Roquefort butter sauce along with sides of Parmesan asparagus and garlic-mashed potatoes. Good starters include ample crab cakes --- actually a meal in themselves --- and tender calamari with a zesty marinara. Desserts are fine indulgences as well, including a massive Italian cream cake and a lemony cheesecake. There’s a full bar and an extensive wine list with vintages from around the world. |
