The kitchen team at Cru follows a simple path, but with some gutsy flavours and a wide range of inspiration, from France, Italy, Spain, England, Portugal and Greece. Lunchtime offers platters, either for two or singly, and majors on good charcuterie. A la carte goes a more sophisticated route, offering the likes of John Dory on crushed potatoes with olives, capers and white wine sauce or veal osso buco with roast garlic mash. Daily specials come with topnotch wine recommendations. Wine tastings are a feature of the restaurant, which acts like a club for the surrounding offices. The décor is industrial: white walls, wooden floors. The noise level can be high; the atmosphere is upbeat and lively. Pre-theatre 2 courses £12, 3 courses £15.
