This is a perfect little Island eatery---except for the location. Da Big Kahuna’s in a warehouse district by the ocean. Still it’s the kind of place everyone comes to Hawaii to find---a beach shack with surfboards, tikis and great food. It dishes up pizza and stuffs. We love the sumo pizza, which boasts pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, Portuguese sausage, kalua pig, bacon, onions, mushrooms and fresh tomatoes. We also can never resist the paniolo beef-brisket sandwich, plenty of beef with a vinegar-molasses barbecue sauce on a massive bun, baked on the premises, fresh and light. Look out for the garlic cheese balls, they’re addictive and you’ll find yourself returning over and over to this little five-table shack. If you find yourself near the airport, you should make a point of seeking wisdom from Da Big Kahuna.
