D'Angelo's Ristorante & Bar Restaurant Review: This family-owned Italian restaurant is favored by Rittenhouse Square locals, mainly for its dependable signature dishes and warm and courteous service. The bar downstairs is quiet; the second floor is where the action is with friendly banter, an occasional strolling troubadour, a bustling dancing scene on weekends, and Tuesday night’s “open mic.” Order the big house salad full of shrimp, bacon, hard-boiled egg and lots of vegetables in a Russian-type dressing, and the mammoth veal chop or a steak, with or without mozzarella and roasted peppers. All the pasta dishes are tasty, especially fusilli Siciliana topped with eggplant, marinara and cheese. Fettuccine in cream sauce with prosciutto and peas is yet another worthy option. Consider, too, the lasagna and veal selections. Whole-wheat pasta is available upon request. For dessert, reliably good tiramisu, cannolis and sorbetti are there for the asking. The children's menu is sure to please younger pasta eaters.
