| Of the three Daniel's Broilers in Seattle, the Leschi Daniel's has the most intimate ambience and secluded location (there is also one on bustling Lake Union and another in a high-rise in Bellevue). Like the others (part of the Schwartz Brothers restaurant group), this branch offers well prepared steaks. Happy hour appeals to the bargain hunter in all of us: we like the steak sandwich with fries and the lobster club salad, each a meal on its own. At dinner, huge steaks are the raison d’être and our preference is the rib-eye or the New York strip, both weighing in at a full 16 ounces. Prime grade and naturally aged, steaks are seared in an 1,800-degree broiler and cooked as ordered. The ten-ounce filet mignon is positively demure when compared to the 22-ounce porterhouse. Even baked potatoes and side dishes are big enough to share and satisfy a crowd. For an appetizer, we can't resist the oysters Rockefeller, making a doggie bag pretty much unavoidable. Come dessert time, for those who've managed to leave a smidgen of space, we recommend the decadent Valrhona chocolate cake or New York cheesecake. |
