Dave & Buster's Restaurant Review: Why should small fry have all the fun? Those under 18 are welcome at this massive establishment but only if accompanied by an adult. The aim of Dave and Buster, two Texans whose nationwide eating-drinking-gaming chain originated in 1982, is big fun for big people. The Million Dollar Midway’s games range from cutting-edge video simulations back through Ms. Pac-Man to old-fashioned analog amusements like Skee-Ball---and winners can trade earnings for carnival-type prizes to impress one’s date. Cocktails also time travel, from classic cosmos to D&B’s signature TNT (featuring vodka, gin, rum, Grand Marnier, and a souvenir glass). And food is equally geared for wide appeal: tempura-fried mushrooms; hefty Jack Daniels barbecue sauce-basted ribs; salads, with an astonishing variety of dressings; even a few low-carb dishes, like grilled chicken with green beans, for the responsibly health-minded. But few diners here let a grown-up sense of responsibility prevent them from scarfing down a wedge of triple chocolate cake---even if they haven’t finished all their green veggies first. |
