Dee Angelo's Pleasant Ave. Cafe Restaurant Review: This small family-run restaurant hosts a steady stream of regulars who come back for the warm atmosphere and, of course, the Italian food. Dee Angelo's serves generous portions of classics like eggplant Parmesan and pasta with "Sunday gravy," along with dishes like pollo arrosto and Florentine-style grilled steak. The menu changes often to reflect seasonal Long Island produce and freshly caught seafood, all prepared by chef Pablo Velez. The lunchtime menu includes pressed panini on Sullivan Street bread, as well as Italian riffs on American brunch staples like open-face omelets with tomatoes and mozzarella, or french toast made with panettone fruitcake. The wine list, naturally, favors Italy with some fairly priced options by the glass.
