Delta Cafe Restaurant Review:
You won't go hungry at this Southern-spirited hangout, long popular with Reed College students. The Creole-style dishes are far from subtle, but always ample. Start with a platter of fried this or that: catfish, hush puppies, oysters, okra. Then move on to enjoy fried chicken, blackened catfish, jambalaya chicken-fried steak, and classic red beans and rice with andouille sausage. Oh, yes, and there's also tofu Creole. Sides are a must, and choices include cornbread, mashed turnips and carrots, or collard greens. Po' boys are another tasty option. Dessert fans will want to go retro with a root beer float or rice crispy treats. If brunch is your game, wash down the biscuits and gravy or basket of beignets with a fruit Champagne cocktail or a build-your-own Bloody Mary. There's a decent kids’ menu sure to please both parents and youngsters.
