Dockside 700 features comforting cuisine, friendly staff and a view of Lake Tahoe, with an upscale-casual menu of pasta, meats, seafood and a very popular barbecue from 5 p.m. Friday-Sunday offered year-round. A typical weeknight dinner might start with Brie baked in puff pastry and topped with a blackberry compote, or local rack of lamb "lollipops" with rosemary, lemon, garlic, feta and balsamic. Entrées range from a sautéed vegetable medley to the surf ‘n’ turf that includes a 16-ounce rib-eye and jumbo prawns. Barbecue highlights (weekends only) include tri tip, whole and half racks of ribs and lots of grilled chicken. Round out the night with apple cake layered with apple slices coated in cinnamon and sugar for a light, subtle flavor, served with vanilla ice cream. An approachable wine list of mainly Californian and Italian wines proposes many by the glass.
