| Located on the fourth floor of Rosslyn’s flashy Hotel Palomar Arlington, just at the border of Virginia and DC, Domaso Trattoria Moderna offers glamorous views of the capital city and in warm weather, outdoor seating gives patrons a real bird’s eye view of downtown DC. But most diners will be concentrating on the very Italian-bistro menu, starring such dishes as open ravioli, a Maine lobster salad with shaved fennel, and a crispy pork belly with sautéed rapini. And that’s just starters. Typically Italian, a pasta course lets you order small or large plates of such favorites as pappardelle, gnocchi of squash, penne alla vodka, and the hit of the menu, the garganelli with a sumptuous pork ragù and broccoli rabe. Main courses include a plate of tender braised short ribs and a just-right grilled flatiron steak. End your meal with a heavenly lemon panna cotta sitting in a delicate, clear fruit soup. Other meals include breakfasts and lunches; the lunch menu is a shorter version of what you will find in the evening, plus sandwiches. By the way, ask about the wine menu: it offers some very pleasant selections. |
