El Loco Mexican Cafe Restaurant Review: El Loco offers many of the dishes commonly found at Mexican restaurants --- chimichangas, burritos, fajitas (chicken, shrimp or tofu). But the menu also includes some less traditional options: “edible bowls” with shredded beef, sautéed turkey, rice and beans, meat or veggie chili, or ancho-chipotle chicken, each topped with refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, olives and cheese; and a 150-minute "Happy Hour" tapas list with chorizo braised in red wine, shrimp sautéed in chimichurri, and Mexican pizza with spinach, artichokes, tomatoes and cheese on a crisp tortilla crust. The margarita list works with 25 tequilas and mezcals served up in such surprising flavors as "Iguana" and "Beergarita." Sweet tooth? Traditional coconut caramel flan and cheesecake-filled tortillas are good choices. |
