THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED El Nopalito Grill Restaurant Review:
El Nopalito---or the little cactus---strikes out on unchartered territory: offbeat Mexican cooking that encompasses more than the usual enchilada, burrito or taco. True, you can accompany your hibiscus drink with an order of flautas, a burrito grande, or a soft taco platter. But just consider: you can also devour tacos al pastor, tacos with roasted pork and onions; a taco dish called a huarache, a corn tortilla topped with black beans, grilled chicken or beef, and guacamole; or enjoy pollo poblano, an entrée-sized meal of chicken in mole sauce. And, you can kick off your meal with a tamale filled with duck and red mole sauce, something you wont find at most Tex-Mex eateries. We even loved the cliché sopapillas, usually a mass of soggy fried dough topped with ersatz whipped cream, but this version of fried flour tortillas with real ice cream merits a thumbs-up. Olé, El Nopalito.
