THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ellington's Jazz Bar & Restaurant Restaurant Review: There aren't many places in Florida where you can find good jazz and good food but at Ellington's you'll find both. While the menu may be limited, what executive chef Amy Visco puts on her tables is notable. Starters include a wild mushroom spring roll and a Florida lobster cake served with vanilla-and-spiced rum butter, pea shoots and mango crème fraîche. There is also a creative macadamia nut calamari. Don't speed-read past the soups but instead try the Gulf crab and roasted corn chowder with pepper confetti and jalapeño gastrique. Entrées include coconut Gulf grouper (the Florida grouper comes from the nearby Gulf of Mexico, as fresh as you can get) roasted in a pineapple purée with ginger-mango chutney and served with an orange rum-infused sweet mashed potato while Ellington's eggplant roulade features a spinach and ricotta stuffing, roasted garlic, risotto and roasted red pepper coulis. During the winter season (January-March), there is also a jazz-infused Sunday brunch that can't be beaten.
