| If you're strolling along West Cabrillo Boulevard and sniff the heady scent of garlic in the salty air, you've come to Emilio's, a delightful Italian restaurant. It's been around since 1990 --- its longevity an indication of its dedication to quality and service. Local celeb chef Pete Clements took a hiatus for a while, but he’s back and as devoted as ever to topnotch regional ingredients and organic products. The result is healthy Mediterranean cuisine with intense --- but never overwhelming --- flavors. Be it traditional paella or roasted and grilled fish or meats with herbs and fine olive oil, the food at Emilio's is pure, simple and satisfying. The restaurant is known for its homemade pastas, breads and specialties showcasing local seafood. Get a taste of the place by ordering the special chef’s selection --- four- or five-course family-style dinners. Vegetarians will be pleased with the all-veggie version. Though desserts include chocolate cake and crème brûlée, we prefer to cap off a meal here with light, refreshing sorbets or gelato. |
