 Classy contemporary meets casual comfort at this downtown restaurant from hands-on owners Erich and Patricia Koberl. The bar is a popular spot to order up appetizers like the chicken lettuce wraps or pot stickers, dishes which have become clichéd at other places, but not here. For an upscale experience, have a seat at one of the white linen-covered tables in the dining room and enjoy one of Erich’s signature wine-friendly dishes such as herb-crusted rack of lamb or the crisped filet of salmon with “menage au pois.” This is also a place that takes vegetarian concerns seriously, offering about six entrées, such as sautéed vegetables with beurre blanc and tomato confit or wild mushroom ravioli in a basil vermouth sauce. For dessert, refresh your palate with a house-made sorbet, or go for gusto with a made-to-order chocolate lava cake. The beverage list is extensive, especially the martinis, and includes a good selection of by-the-glass wines.
