| Anyone who complains how much Portland has changed should drop into this tribute to Big Apple-style pizza-by-the-slice. If anything has been altered since 1983, it’s hard to spot it. They don’t do delivery, credit cards or ranch dressing, and pity the poor soul who asks for “gluten-free crust.” But be assured, there’s nothing seasonal or sustainable here. The closest they get to “green” is the pepper slices on the veggie pie. This is a place where most diners rightly opt for a simple cheese or pepperoni---and know to turn off those cell phones while ordering or expect to be loudly pushed to the back of the line. The Big Apple kitsch is mostly entertaining, and the crew will give you what you ask for---and not a whole lot more. |
