Figs Restaurant Review: A charming spot near the Philadelphia Museum of Art celebrates the cuisine of North Africa, in the capable hands of Mustapha Rouissiya---a native of Morocco. Figs has evolved to feature Moroccan-influenced Mediterranean specialties including starters such as baked Brie in a clay pot with honey lavender and toasted almonds, or hummus and apple wood-smoked salmon pizza. Choose from entrées such as a braised lamb shank tagine or grilled king shrimp over orzo with Indonesian curry and topped with sautéed spinach. Greek pasta and whole roasted fish round out the offerings. In this casual, sunny environment, fig or banana ice cream and Middle Eastern cookies are a must. Cash only, so come prepared. |
