Flatbread Company Restaurant Review

: You'd be hard-pressed to find a more intriguing, not to mention healthy, pizza than those you'll encounter at the Flatbread Company. This is one pizza dinner you don't have to feel guilty about feeding the kids. The thin, chewy crust is made from spring water, organic flour, kosher salt and cake yeast. It's baked in a hand-built, wood-burning, earthen oven until crispy. Tangy, organic tomato sauce is steamed in a cauldron over a wood fire. Toppings range from hormone-free maple-fennel sausage to free-range chicken and an array of locally grown, organic herbs and vegetables. Locals rarely look at the menu: they know the best flatbreads are the carne and veggie weekly specials described on hand-chalked blackboards. Fresh-squeezed lemonade and regional microbrews are our favored beverages. This is the place to try some of the most inventive beers being produced in Connecticut. We're also devotees of the apple cider donut sundae made with ice cream from J. Foster's down the road and topped with maple-syrup-sweetened whipped cream.
