THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Fly Trap Restaurant Review:
Harkening back to the old days of San Francisco (try 1898), The Fly Trap can definitely be referred to as one of the city's venerable restaurants. Classic salads like celery Victor, white salad (endive, hearts of palm, water chestnuts and goat cheese) and, of course, Caesar salad slide happily down your throat and grab onto your heartstrings. Lemony veal piccata, salmon with a traditional beurre blanc and a hearty coq au vin are reminiscent of a bygone era without losing any of their 21st-century credentials. This is true Americana---not weighed-down comfort food but sophisticated classics that might make you forget fusion cuisine ever existed. The beautiful dining room is accented by a huge wood bar, botanical paintings and a staff that is so accommodating and unobtrusive you just may think you've traveled back in time.
