French Corner Cafe Restaurant Review: Highway 111 is a long way from the Champs Élysées, but at the corner of this main desert thoroughfare and Fred Waring Drive is a charming French bistro awaiting discovery. Don’t let the strip mall location be a deterrent, as there is plenty of bon vivant to embrace beyond the café’s threshold. Owner Marc Davy and his pastry chef brother, Aimeric, who trained with Pierre Hermé, created this all-day dining spot. Homemade quiche, croquettes and salads dominate the lunch menu, while frogs’ legs and escargots add a nice touch to the evening offerings. The cheese course makes for a fine starter. There are also crêpes and a classic steak frites. Weekly specials range from coq au vin to cassoulet. As for desserts, select from the display of colorful macarons, which almost look too good to eat. Wines and Champagne, as you may have guessed, are also French.
