THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Frodo's Restaurant Review:

THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED If you have never read The Lord of the Rings, you might not understand the décor. The name and subsequent slogan, Taste the Magic, might be enough to provide second thoughts, but with proven talent, chef-owner Dan Petrilli in the kitchen, Frodo's is well worth a visit. Start things off with a delicious (and reasonably-priced) Riesling. The menu is limited to ten entrées, and among them the daily homemade raviolis should not be missed, especially if you are brave enough to experiment. The chef evidently is, as shown in his sampler: a vegetarian's fantasy broccoli rabe laced with chunks of Golden Delicious apple; and for the carnivore, duck-filled pockets in an espresso-and-vanilla sauce. Do not miss Petrilli's signature fennel salad dressed with a light apple cider vinaigrette and finished with a crumble of walnuts and Gorgonzola. The flavors do not compete, leaving the salad a standout. The trout atop black forbidden rice is dressed beautifully and seasoned just enough to be noticed, but not so much as to take away its own authority. As for a seasonal special, an unexpected espresso liqueur demi-glaze transforms two soft-shell crabs into one of the best dishes in Westchester County. Somewhere between the Riesling and the attentive cuisine you will forget that you are dining in the land of Tolkien.
