Fuller's Coffee Shop Restaurant Review: There are restaurants that are self-consciously retro, and those that simply never changed. Fuller's falls in the second category, and stepping inside is a bit like dropping into a '50s photograph. A single, long Formica-topped counter snakes through the diner, where customers perch on stools while waitresses in white aprons pour coffee freely from squat glass pots. Don’t even think about ordering a latté. Instead, choose traditional eggs and bacon, fluffy pancakes, or chicken-fried steak, and enjoy reading a real black and white newspaper. For lunch, choose from a traditional list of sandwiches. Portions are huge. Don't expect alcohol, vegetarian or gluten-free choices, or credit card acceptance. (In a concession to modernity, there's an ATM on site.) During the sunny season, the few outdoor tables enjoy a brisk turnover. |
