| Substantially renovated, Goldberg's original location is spiffier, brighter and boasts an outdoor patio. But everything new is old again, and familiar, from the bialy breads and bagels to the house-made sauerkraut, whitefish salad, and even pickles. The menu seems never-ending: homemade cream cheeses, baked salmon spread, egg salad, chopped chicken liver, and specialty items from knishes to pierogies. The deli sandwiches and kosher hot dogs (Best brand) on good buns are reliably first-rate. Besides the normal deli fare, Goldberg's does breakfast all day, including omelets and matzoh brei (eggs scrambled with matzoh) and even grits.
