Green Sprout Restaurant Review: Green Sprout is a casual eatery offering a menu of Chinese and vegetarian cuisine, as well as some gluten-free options. Lunch combos are served until 3 p.m. Each one comes with a spring roll, and guests can have brown rice for an extra 50 cents, a most worthwhile investment. Spicy dishes are marked on the menu, but you may request a downturn in the heat factor. The house mushroom soup is a light, flavorful broth with enoki and portobello slices studding its surface; eggplant with garlic sauce brings forth a large plate of tender morsels with bell pepper and water chestnuts; and vegetable moo shu fills the familiar pancakes with stir-fried veggies. If you like faux meat, there's plenty of it, mostly available in a variety of "chicken" dishes, but there are some "beef" choices, too. Soy, potatoes and similar non-meat substitutes compose these selections, and for vegans, egg may be eliminated in some items. For dessert, get the fried bananas dusted with sesame sugar and a cup of hot herbal or jasmine tea. No alcohol is served.
