Wood-burning pizza ovens in the middle of this trendy, yet comfortable, Italian restaurant have become the signature of Grotto. Besides pizzas, winners include the red snapper Mario, an herbed cappelini-encrusted filet, and petto di pollo positano, a chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella, Italian sausage, spinach and Marsala wine. Good bets in the pasta department are the Mezzalune, half-moon shaped spinach ravioli with mushrooms and tomatoes; paglia e fieno, homemade green and white fettuccine with mushrooms; prosciutto, peas and Parmesan sauce; and rigatoni contadina with roasted sweet peppers, Italian sausage and ricotta cheese.
